There are a number of sites which claim to show football online for free at the click of a button, and as avid football fans we enthusiastically scroll to the link at the bottom of a post or helpful article, our hearts pulsating with excitement as we hit the mouse, only to find an infuriating message on the landing page which says ‘Watch Football Online Free All Season For Just £14.99!’. Our hearts sink and we plough on to find the next advert.
Now if I wanted to pay good money to watch badly commentated football matches while being blasted with never ending adverts, I’d sign up to Sky. However as any regular football goer will tell you, it’s extremely unhelpful for TV companies to re-arrange matches to suit their schedules at the last minute so that your perfectly well organised trip to the ground at 3pm on a Saturday becomes a 6pm trip on a Friday night when you already had something planned for that evening, and I simply wish not to encourage this kind of behaviour.

There are a number of programs which allow you to watch TV channels from other countries, and on sporting days, such as Saturday’s and Sunday’s, you will find these programs awash with football matches from the Premiership and other major leagues. The best free programs include:
A well supported program with a number of channels to choose from. Often difficult to navigate and go through channels methodically, however one of the best nonetheless. The small screen size offered can mean sitting very close, however the streams are often reliable.
A bigger screen size than Sopcast, and very easy to navigate. Simply scroll to the ‘Sports’ section of channel categories, and make your way through any which mention football or soccer and see if you can find the game you’re after.
A good program, but I’ve personally always opted for the first two due to their range of streams. If, however you do not find what you’re looking for on the last two, this is definitely worth trying.
There’s two things to remember when looking for a good stream:
- Every stream will take a while to buffer before you can watch it, and it’s very common for streams to need to buffer in the middle of a match. Don’t give up until you’ve given it a good five minutes to start streaming smoothly.
- Secondly, if you can’t find the match you’re looking for after a while, there’s always the chance it’s not being shown. The games most likely to be on are going to be the big teams, so if you support Watford (as I happen to do), don’t expect to necessarily find every game they play to be on.
